Our Nuki Integration and Development Services

Integration Assessment and Architecture

We review the lock generation, accessories, connectivity and intended users before selecting an integration route.

The assessment defines which operations belong in the mobile app, which require a backend and which should remain within Nuki’s own applications. It also identifies vendor approvals, subscription dependencies and features requiring a hardware proof of concept.

Nuki Web API Integration

We create back-end integrations for data relating to supported devices, locking, authorizations, and activity logging.

The implementation consists of request handling, checking for authorizations, reporting errors, and syncing with your app. Our design is based on the API documentation rather than treating the request as an indication of the request's successful completion by a device.

OAuth Account Linking and Advanced API Integration

For applications connecting customers’ Nuki accounts, we implement the appropriate authorization flow and requested permission scopes.

The scope includes account connection, disconnection, token handling and recovery when authorization is no longer valid. Advanced API access and webhook availability are confirmed before those capabilities are included in the release plan.

Custom iOS and Android Applications

We build branded mobile experiences for property selection, supported lock operations, access management and relevant activity information.

The interface makes the access method clear. A remotely operated lock, a locally stored credential and an invitation redeemed in the Nuki app are different experiences and should not be presented as interchangeable.

Flutter, React Native and Ionic Integration

We integrate Nuki technology with existing cross-platform apps.

While the cloud-based operation can work with the app’s back end, direct Bluetooth connection will require native modules or platform-related work. The tests will check the permissions, interruption of connections, application restarts, and the models of supported phones.

Bluetooth Integration and Local Access

For suitable projects, we develop authorized local communication using Nuki’s documented Bluetooth interface.

The work includes pairing, credential protection, connection handling and understandable feedback when a device cannot be reached. Local access is validated on the target hardware, with a clear distinction between using an existing permission and obtaining a new one.

Nuki App Linking and Invitation Workflows

Not every project needs to recreate the unlocking experience. We can assess workflows that guide users into the Nuki app through supported links and invitations.

This can be appropriate when your application handles bookings or property information while Nuki’s application handles the user’s local access. The dependency is explained during onboarding rather than hidden from the guest.

MQTT, Bridge and Smart Home Integration

We evaluate local integration via the supported MQTT, Bridge HTTP, and Matter options.

The scope may include the status monitoring and permitted actions. The access to the network, permissions from the broker, specifications of the controller, and compatibility of devices are considered separately for every infrastructure.

The local bus should not be available to the global internet.

Rental, PMS and Booking-System Integration

We connect approved booking workflows with supported Nuki access provisioning.

The scope covers more than a new reservation. It can include cancellations, changed arrival times, extended stays, property reassignment and failed credential delivery. Staff receive a clear exception when access cannot be prepared as expected.

Direct booking-platform access and any Nuki hosting requirements are confirmed separately.

Keypad Codes and Guest Permissions

We implement supported workflows for issuing, changing and removing keypad codes or app authorizations.

The system distinguishes a code requested by the backend from one successfully transferred to the device. It also handles validity windows and access changes without assuming every accessory exposes the same management functions.

Nuki Opener and Building-Entrance Connectivity Evaluation

We check the efficiency of user access processes related to compatible intercoms with Nuki Opener installed.

Where the premises has a shared entrance and door of apartments, the system should treat the entrance and apartments as two different access points. Compatibility issues, building permits, and the type of communication needed are defined before the system goes into use.

Multi-Property Dashboards and Administrative Roles

We build dashboards for properties, devices, users and access policies.

Backend authorization limits each operator to their permitted locations. Supported bulk operations show individual results, allowing staff to distinguish completed changes from pending or failed work.

Webhooks, Activity Reports and Operational Alerts

Where the approved integration supports webhooks, we process relevant events and connect them with notifications or reports.

The backend handles repeated messages, delayed delivery and connection problems. Reports show event timestamps and data freshness, while permissions control who can view or export access information.

Security Evaluation, Transitioning and Upkeep

We analyze software permissions, secure credential storage, system management, and retention of accountability records. Evaluation includes disconnection incidents, disregard of authorization, modification of apparatus, and errors in execution. Continuation of the software can imply updating the application interface, shifting the mobile OS, monitoring integration processes, etc.

Parties are advised to enter a contract regulating the terms of ownership, documentation, hosting, and software assistance. Rights to proprietary hardware and software remain beyond the custom application scope unless otherwise agreed.

Nuki SDK Integration Importance

  • Users can unlock the door from their phone
  • Track log history – who opened the door and when
  • Generate virtual access keys
  • Provide a secure and encrypted connection

Hire Nuki SDK Integration Developer

If you already have an app and want to add Nuki smart lock features, you can hire us as your Nuki SDK integration developer.

We possess extensive knowledge of the integration of Nuki SDK with various mobile and web platforms. Our team undertakes the integration of Nuki functionalities in any existing app, with no need to develop a separate app.

This guarantees a significant reduction in development time and costs, while also providing new functionalities needed to meet your business needs.

Why an Accepted API Request Is Not a Confirmed Lock Operation

The Nuki Web API processes changes asynchronously. A successful response to a change request can mean that the request passed validation—not that the lock completed the action.

The application therefore needs a confirmation step, using the relevant state information or available webhook events. Until then, it should show the operation as pending.

If confirmation does not arrive, the interface should explain the uncertainty and provide an appropriate next step. Blindly repeating an unlock request is not a reliable recovery strategy.

What Is Required Before Development Starts?

A Nuki integration needs more than an application design. The project should have dedicated test hardware, the required account configuration and the appropriate API access.

In customer-oriented Web API integrations, the plan for development should involve the Advanced API application as well as the integration assessment by Nuki.

According to Nuki, its REST API employs actual devices and does not have any dedicated development space. Therefore, the testing has to be planned properly by using real devices instead of relying on the access points used by customers and guests.

Before release, document the tested device models, firmware, account permissions and any functions that remain outside the integration.

Planning Nuki Integration for Short-Term Rentals

Before commissioning a custom rental integration, check whether an existing Nuki hosting connection already meets your needs.

Custom software is helpful when you require more original processes like a personalized guest experience, collaboration between hotel properties, or integration with your business systems.

In your proposal, you should list the necessary Smart Hosting subscription(s) and make sure to indicate all recurring platform costs separately from the development costs. You must also explain how you will deal with a change in an existing booking, considering that the update may not instantly become available.

A reservation confirmation is a business event. It should not be treated as proof that the guest’s access is ready.

Building Apps on Different Platforms with Nuki Smart Lock

We build apps with Nuki Smart Lock using several different technologies. This allows you to choose the right technology for your needs.

React-Native App with Nuki Smart Lock

React-Native is a very popular framework that allows us to build apps for both iOS and Android using the same code base. It reduces development time and saves costs. If you have a tight budget and need an app quickly, Ionic may be an affordable option. We are experienced in building Nuki Smart Lock with the Ionic app.

Flutter App with Nuki Smart Lock

Flutter is another fast-growing framework created by Google. It builds beautiful and high-performance apps. If you want an app with a very attractive and smooth user experience, Flutter is a great choice. We can also build Flutter apps integrated with Nuki Smart Lock.

Native iOS and Android App with Nuki Smart Lock

Native development is best if you want the best performance from your app, maximum customization, and take full advantage of specific operating system features. We build apps using Swift/Objective-C for iOS and Java/Kotlin for Android. Integrating Nuki Smart Lock with native iOS and Android apps offers maximum control and performance optimization.

Our integration in a client app:

We integrated Nuki Smart Lock into a hospitality management app for one of our clients. Our client runs a growing chain of small hotels. They approached us to address challenges in key management, such as lost keys and limited staff availability.

We integrated their existing booking system with the Nuki API. With our app, guests receive a digital key on their phone instantly after booking and payment—no front desk needed. The digital key is valid only during the guest’s stay, from check-in to check-out.

The guest can open the room door from his phone. The hotel management team can view the lock status and access logs of all the rooms in real time from their admin panel. It ensures a smooth and secure check-in/out experience for guests and the hotel alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to connect Nuki to my existing application?

Definitely yes, if the necessary access and technical specifications match. First, we find out if the system will operate in the cloud, use Bluetooth directly, perform local operations, or go to the Nuki app.

Has each Nuki installation got to have a Bridge?

No. The connectivity is determined by both the device model and the chosen integration path. Some lock models support built-in connectivity and some installations have to use a Bridge. Nuki Opener needs a Bridge to provide remote capabilities.

Can the system work without the internet?

Some authorized local operations can continue through a suitable local interface. Cloud operations cannot. The design must separately address existing local access and changes that still need to reach the device.

Can guests use a keypad instead of downloading an app?

If a compatible keypad and the required authorization are available, guests may use it for access. The application must ensure that provisioning is verified and any conditions attached, stating when someone can use the credential after activation beforehand.

Can you reproduce every feature of the Nuki app?

We confirm each requested feature against the selected interface. Functionality in the manufacturer’s app does not automatically establish that it is available through every API.

Can one dashboard manage several customers’ properties?

A multi-customer dashboard can be created with the right authorization assigned to the accounts and strict separation for each customer. Ownership of devices and authorizations granted have a significant impact on the boundaries for integration.
