Custom Device Driver Development Services

A device driver is a software component that provides instructions for the Operating System (OS) on how to interface with an individual piece of hardware (i.e. the hardware device). For new/custom hardware, standard drivers may not support all the capabilities of the device.

Custom device driver development allows your hardware devices, like sensors, cameras, printers, or custom embedded boards, to communicate with the operating system.

In simple terms, you can say that, a driver serves as a bridge between the hardware and the software. If your device uses only Standard Device Drivers, your device will likely be limited in its functionality.

However, if you use Custom Device Drivers, you can develop specialized features of the hardware device to improve security, increase data transfer speed and improve energy efficiency, a custom driver lets you add specialized features like enhanced security, fast data transfer, or energy efficiency.

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to more than merely connecting things. A true IoT solution includes three distinct layers:

Currently, the demand for custom drivers is rising in areas such as automotive, healthcare, industrial automation, and smart homes.

At Adequate Infosoft, we make sure your drivers are not only functional but also scalable and able to adapt to future needs. Our services offer you a competitive edge since we use unique algorithms that aren't available elsewhere.

At Adequate Infosoft, we develop drivers that:

  1. Fully use every feature of the hardware
  2. Integrate smoothly with the operating system
  3. Provide fast data transfer and low latency
  4. Reduce the chances of system crashes and failures

A Unique Case Study: Device Driver for Windows and Linux-Based Systems

A Unique Case Study: Device Driver for Windows and Linux-Based Systems

Adequate infosoft recently created a device driver for a major automotive client that works on both Windows and Linux systems.

The electric vehicle (EV) company offered a custom on-board diagnostic (OBD) diagnostic product for the EV.

The client was an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer with a custom on-board diagnostics (OBD) device, offered a custom on-board diagnostic (OBD) diagnostic product for the EV.

The OBD product required an ability to collect real-time information from the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU). The standard OBD product could collect real-time information from the engine control unit, but they were not compatible with different operating systems.

Our development team accepted this challenge and created a solution that allows for a hybrid driver to function correctly on both Windows desktop applications and embedded Linux systems.

At the start of the project, we carefully examined the client's requirements. These included high-speed CAN bus communication, battery optimization, and secure data transfer.

We created custom kernel mode drivers (KMDF for Windows) and Linux kernel modules from the same codebase. This innovative approach used cross-compilation tools, which are uncommon in the market. As a result, the client's EV fleet monitoring system became 35% more efficient.

The driver eliminated data loss and provided support for multiple operating systems.

This project gave the client an advantage in the market, as their device now functions everywhere from the factory floor (Linux) to office analysis (Windows). This case from Adequateinfosoft shows how we turn complex cross-platform challenges into simple solutions. Overall, we completed the project in 6 weeks, and the client saved 20% on costs. Key features of this driver

When we began the project, we assessed what the client required, including real-time data analysis, predictive irrigation, and cloud integration then, we outfitted the firmware with TensorFlow Lite so that it could perform on-device machine learning by recognizing weather patterns and making automations based on those predictions.

For example, if the moisture content of the soil falls below 30% and no rain is expected, then the system will automatically turn on the irrigation system to prevent crop loss.

Our other major feature is a self-adaptive algorithm that changes its parameters while working in real time according to the crops (such as wheat, rice) it is providing for.

In addition to being fully developed in house, this solution has no other equivalents in the marketplace. The hardware was designed to use very low power and will be charged with solar panels so it can be used anywhere in a rural setting.

Cross-platform support

Builds on both Windows 10 & 11 along with all various Linux distributions (e.g., all versions of Ubuntu & Red Hat) so there is no requirement for changes.

High throughput data

Provides throughput rates of up to 1 Gbps using the CAN Protocol, allowing real time monitoring capabilities.

Robust security

Provides end-to-end encrypted connections as well as digital signature verification to protect from cyber security risks.

Resource optimization

Battery saver mode will extend the life of the connected EV device by 15%.

Easy to integrate

Provides REST APIs that connect directly to AWS or Azure cloud solutions.

Scalability

Modular architecture enables for update capabilities in sustaining new OS implementation in the future.

Extensive testing

Certified with WHQL and custom stress tests, offering a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
